This bookstore is perfect for lovers of old books—but that’s not all… You’ll find a wide selection of books, as well as comic books, movie posters, and decorative items. Everything is neatly organized by theme, such as poetry, religion, medicine, literature, music, philosophy, and more… A bookbinding workshop can be toured with a guide on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can even enjoy a cup of coffee inside while flipping through a book—what more could you ask for?! If you’re in the Loix area on Île de Ré, be sure to stop by—you’re sure to find something you love.

August 30, 2025FabriceKudos for this place dedicated to book enthusiasts and anyone who simply loves books. We stumbled upon it by chance and were completely charmed, especially when we heard the owner (I think!) speaking passionately to a customer... Impressive.

August 27, 2025DanielI love getting lost among the old and newer comic books at the Quillet bookstore, admiring its vintage posters, some of which are absolutely stunning. The atmosphere is calm, people treat the place with respect (where you can also enjoy an excellent cup of coffee), and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I haven’t yet visited the workshop where old documents are restored, but I believe it’s very interesting and unique on a national scale.

July 9, 2025ScherzerfloriWhat a place. Even if you don't know enough French to read the books and comics, it's still worth a visit. I've rarely seen such a wide selection of truly unique books. The layout is lovely, too.

June 17, 2025OlivierA truly unique place! Used books (the oldest dating back to the 16th century), comic books—some signed by the authors—maps, advertising posters, and movie posters... at every price point: for example, 18th-century books for €8 and original posters for €8,000! There’s a café on site where you can grab a bite to eat, and a view of the book repair workshop. And the staff is very welcoming!

April 19, 2025AudeGreat service and an exceptional collection of maps, paintings, and old books on every subject. It’s simply delightful to wander around and discover your own little treasure in this cozy little haven. Prices range to suit every budget. There’s even a small café with restrooms inside where you can enjoy a cup of tea. The selection is updated frequently, so you can come back anytime and find new treasures! It’s just like heaven for any book lover ;)
